Seasons of Change
“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Changes of seasons keep us present to our hearts, sometimes through lament, and other times through deep thankfulness. As we move into summer from the busyness of the school year, or as we awaken from the stillness of a dry winter, there is something about this season that stirs hope within us. Nature coming back to life awakens the soul to desire more of what is good. The refreshment of rain, the stillness of lakes, the movement of rivers, the beauty of green grass and colorful flowers all gently remind us of the presence of a kind and loving God.
As I read in Ecclesiastes 3, there is a time for everything under heaven. A time for every season, every joy, every sorrow, every ending, and every beginning. Yet even knowing this, our hearts still wonder. We ache, we hope, we long for what has passed, and we carry deep desires for what is still to come.
But how comforting it is to know that we serve a God of promises. He sees every season we walk through. He understands the questions we carry and the longings tucked quietly within our hearts. He is the One we can always run to, the One who makes sense of our past and lovingly holds the dreams we have for the future. This is where my heart finds rest and reassurance.
As we step into summer, my prayer is that your heart, mind, spirit, and body would find deep rest in the love of your Father. May you notice His beauty all around you—the evidence of His care woven into creation, placed there intentionally for you to see and enjoy.
Let us rejoice in what He has done and trust in what He is still doing, knowing that in His perfect time, He is making all things beautiful and good.
Prayer: Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit you are the God of the seasons. Thank you for moving us into life with you through your presence in and around us as things change you are still the Lord of our hearts. Move us deeper by the beauty you surround us with. -AMEN
